Goodbye to Sandy

I could not let Sandy Lambs' leaving of The Beacon go by without acknowledging her long service.

Sandy has been a volunteer cook at The Beacon for nine years, but she has been much more than that.

She has had many hats.

  • Quizmaster after lunch each Wednesday
  • Creator of two books
    • The first was called Beacon Stories.  It was short autobiographies of some of the clients' and staffs' lives
    • The second, Sucking on the Lemon of Life is a self help book.  It was written by the clients in their own words and compiled by Sandy into a wonderful easy read on how to survive the tough times by people who are experts as they do it every day.
  • She is also a skilled felter and has taught basic felting to eager Beacon clients, keen to try something new.

Sandy has always been a totally committed staff member.  As a manager I have often had some great suggestions from her and have benefited from her clear thinking.

We wish you well Sandy.

Thank you from us all.

Lynne Parsons, Manager.
