Welcome to our Neurological Journey
About The Beacon PDF Print E-mail

The Beacon BuildingWe are a Presbyterian Support-facilitated community initiative that offers respite and day activities for younger people with chronic, degenerative neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, and Parkinsons.

We want the Beacon to be as homelike, welcoming and supportive as possible, and we are concerned with caring for the whole person.

The model the Beacon operates under is not a traditional health one and the service does not provide nursing and medical services. Therefore it cannot meet the needs of people who have very high needs.

The Beacon philosophy is that we believe that together, and with a shared sense of hope and mutual support, people can relax, have fun and revitalise heart, soul, and spirit.

A group of Beacon clients in the groundsThe Beacon has been developed with extensive community support and volunteers are a vital part of how the Beacon supports those who need it.  We can always find a place for more caring people with a few hours to spare to make a difference to their community.  If you are interested in helping this way please get in touch with us.
